Becoming A Child of God
How Do I Receive Salvation?
Salvation is a simple process. It is God’s desire that none be lost, but that all come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9). Salvation is a gift. It is nothing that must be worked for, but it is given freely to those that have a desire for eternal life. If you have never asked the Lord to come into your life, pray this simple prayer:
Heavenly Father, I come to You in the Name of Jesus.
“Your Word says in Acts 2:21, “Whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” I am calling on you. I pray and ask Jesus to come into my heart and be the Lord over my life according to Romans 10:9-10. If I shall confess with my mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in my heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, I shall be saved. I do that now. I confess that Jesus is Lord and I believe in my heart that God raised him from the dead. I Am now reborn!! I am a Christian—a child of almighty God! I Am saved!!”
What if I Once Received Salvation and Fell Out of Fellowship with God (I Backslid)?
My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to PLUCK them out of my Father’s hand. (John 10:29)
If you have fallen out of fellowship with God (backslidden), God is faithful and just to forgive you if you confess (1 John 1:9). Pray this simple prayer to be restored into right relationship with the Lord:
“Heavenly Father, I come to you in the name of Jesus, asking you to forgive me for my sins. I have done wrong, and I confess my sins according to your word. Your Word declares that you are faithful and just to forgive me of my sins and cleanse me of my unrighteousness. I receive my cleansing and forgiveness. I now submit myself to you as a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to you as my reasonable service. Thank you Lord! In Jesus Name, amen.”
What Do I Do Now that I’m Saved (or Restored)?
It is God’s desire that we be planted in ministry (Psalms 92:13). Church membership is necessary to maintain proper growth and spiritual strength.
You are a spirit, you have a soul, and you live inside of a body. When you are “born again” (accept Jesus as your Savior), your spirit becomes brand new because Christ now lives inside of you. Just as a natural baby, if you do not feed a baby the right foods on a consistent basis, he will suffer from a lack of nutrition and won’t be strong. This is the same with you. If you are not attending a church where the Word of God is in operation, and if you are not studying His Word, your spirit will suffer from malnutrition. Then your spirit will have problems taking control of desires you may have that are not God’s will. Keep in mind your spirit became brand new, but you still have the same body. Your body and mind must be trained by your spirit to do God’s will. God’s will is His Word. You have to attend church and study His Word to know God’s will and promises for you. You are entitled to God’s promises now that you belong to the Body of Christ!
