Expansion
Expansion is a good thing. It’s spreading out, getting bigger, but more than that—it’s a sign. A sign that says you’ve overtaken, conquered or even dominated your current location to such a degree that there’s nowhere to go but out. It’s the goal of gas station, grocery store and it’s God’s plan for His church.
Before returning to His place in Heaven, the Lord Jesus left this command with the remaining disciples:
Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: —Matthew 28:19
To say it another way, Jesus was instructing the disciples to expand the church, taking His saving message of faith and love everywhere. Even though the time when Jesus said this has long since passed, the command is still as alive now as it was then.
God wants His kKingdom to grow and expand and He’s called every Christian stake out territory for the operation. This call wasn’t given only to those who preach and teach the gospel, but to every Christian. You may not stand behind a pulpit on Sunday, but the testimony of your way of life, way of speaking to and interacting with others are powerful tools in taking the church of Jesus Christ to every stretch of the globe.
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. —Matthew 5:16
When we live a life that allows the light of Christ to shine through, people and see and be drawn into the kingdom. Actions are a powerful testimony that show the difference that Jesus can make in the life of any person. But when all else fails, we can open our mouths and tell others about the goodness of our Lord and Savior. The kingdom is just waiting to flow into every part of the earth, but it’s waiting on the work of bold and loving Christians like you. Are you ready to expand the kingdom?
